Meet Dana!
Dana H. Roebuck, MPS, LCAT, ATR-BC, holds a masters from the School of Visual Arts. She currently works in Virginia as a freelance art therapist and trauma-informed instructor. She has experience in inpatient psychiatry and community settings treating children and adult patients with acute psychosis, substance use disorders, auditory/visual hallucinations, trauma and depression. Her fine arts background in sculpture and fiber arts helps to inform her work within the expressive nature of art as a physical, visceral, and tactile experience. Dana also holds a chair position on the Virginia Art Therapy Association’s state board as their treasurer for the 2021-2023 term.
Course Description
This lecture will review a case study of how doll making is used to process transference within the empathetic treatment relationship.
The response art process allows the clinician to create a wrap doll of the client and use the product to inform the symbiotic experience within the relationship.
Objectives
- Participants will be able to identify 3 clinical applications of the wrap doll directive.
- Participants will be able to form 3 questions about the relational dynamics between self and client qualities.
- Participants will be able to list 5 intrapersonal body language qualities.
- Participants will be able to discuss 1 way the experiential can help inform their treatment relationships.
